But when Mattie is found dead, Sadie's entire world crumbles. After a somewhat botched police investigation, Sadie is determined to bring her sister's killer to justice and hits the road following a few meagre clues to find him.
When West McCray—a radio personality working on a segment about small, forgotten towns in America—overhears Sadie's story at a local gas station, he becomes obsessed with finding the missing girl. He starts his own podcast as he tracks Sadie's journey, trying to figure out what happened, hoping to find her before it's too late.

我的第一本teen mystery，19的女孩寻找杀害她13岁妹妹凶手的故事。尝试了被大力推荐的有声版 ，感觉有些特别--1）故事由两大部分组成--Sadie 的角度和自述她的追踪之路，记者追寻失踪的Sadie并在Podcast 报道。有声版的McCary部分听起来就跟听真实的Podcast 没两样，格式新颖。2)我很喜欢Sadie有自己的声音，有agency, 即使穷途末路，而不仅是：又一个女性受害者，好似除此之外她们没别的身份了。另一个不同的地方是作者并未安排McCary为她的拯救者。跟现实一样，他人对经历这些遭遇的女性，只能事后愤慨和悲痛。记录案件的初衷应该是还给女孩们自己的声音，与其宣传案件的恐怖性让小女孩们害怕世界的危险，更不如加强人们对这类案件犯罪分子多在身边的意识，从根源开始。

形式设定有点意思 所以特意听的audio版。对剧情对结局都没有大意见。给不了高分纯属因为it really is a discomforting story。
Sadie悲惨的一生都只为mm而活…
播客的形式不错，但整体情节弱了一些。
